    Planning Your Arrival

     

    Plan to arrive at José María Córdova International Airport, Rionegro, Antioquia, Colombia (MDE). You'll want to depart your home city on the retreat start date and plan to arrive at MDE at or after 2:00PM. We will arrange group airport transfers for guests. Plan to depart the retreat property on the retreat end date by noon.

     

    We will host a welcome dinner and retreat orientation on Sunday evening. However, formal retreat activities will not start until Monday. In addition, we will host various wellness activities throughout the retreat (mostly in the morning) and will offer guests ample time for writing each day. Workshops will be held midday in a "lunch and learn" style. Also, we will host a sunrise activity on the final day of the retreat, your departure day.

    Accommodations: Click Clack Hotel Medellín

    Set in a leafy neighborhood close to restaurants and shops, the Click Clack Hotel is brimming with provocative details that encourage relaxation and interaction. Each room comes with a flat-screen TV, a smartphone for 24-hour reception and room service, a desk, free WiFi, a private bathroom with (stealable) toiletries, and some even have a cheeky balcony. This new icon sits in the city’s trendiest and most walkable area filled with restaurants, shops, and bars, surrounded by green. The outdoor lobby area houses an art gallery, shops, cafés, and restaurants, including wholesome comfort food at the Click Clack Kitchen. Up above, a sprawling rooftop area featuring not one, but two bars and a pool makes the most of the stunning views over the Aburra Valley.

     

    Note: Rooms are different sizes and larger rooms will be offered to guests on a first come, first serve basis. In other words, guests who book first will have priority placement in larger rooms. Additional details provided upon booking.

  • Frequently Asked Questions

    What is included in the retreat cost?

    Package rate is inclusive of accommodations, retreat meals (breakfast, lunch, and snacks), retreat programming, wellness activities, and ground transportation to and from the airport. Airfare is not included.*

     

    If you choose to go to any additional excursions outside of the scheduled retreat activities, you will be responsible for the costs but we can help you arrange reservations and transportation.

    Do I need to book my own flight?

    Yes, you are responsible for booking your own flight to and from the destination. You'll want to depart your home city on the retreat start date and plan to arrive at the airport at or after 3:00PM. Plan to depart the retreat property on the retreat end date by noon. We will arrange group airport transfers (to and from the airport) for all guests.

    Is my purchase transferable? Can attendance be postponed to a future retreat?

    The retreat is a non-refundable/non-transferable purchase and is considered confirmed at the time of booking. Retreat payments can not be transferred to future bookings. No cancellation can be made. If cancellation takes place, 100% of your retreat fee shall be forfeited.

    Do I need a COVID-19 vaccination or negative COVID test?

    We do not require COVID-19 vaccination. However, all attendees (regardless of vaccination status) will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test.

    What do I need for international travel?

    A passport valid for 6 months after travel.

    When do you publish the schedule?

    We do not publish the schedule on the website. However, we do provide a schedule to all confirmed attendees. Note that the activities listed on this webpage will be included in our itinerary, barring any changes not under our control.

    When will I receive trip details?

    Within 72 hours of booking, you will receive a welcome message with general trip information. As the date of the retreat approaches, you will receive additional emails on specifics relevant to your retreat experience.

    How much free time will we have?

    Our retreat will include a healthy balance between group activities and solo free time to relax, read a book, take a walk, etc. We will build in leisure time for participants to go off on their own or simple stay near the retreat property.

    Can I arrive early and stay late?

    You are more than welcome to book your travel to arrive early and/or stay post retreat. If you choose to do so, you will be responsible for identifying and paying for the cost of your lodging for those additional days.

    Is my purchase refundable?

    The retreat is a non-refundable purchase and is considered confirmed at the time of booking. No cancellation can be made. If cancellation takes place, 100% of your retreat fee shall be forfeited. You agree that neither the Thrive Institute for Professional Development nor its partners or vendors will be liable or responsible for a cancelled retreat for circumstances beyond reasonable control.

    Should I get travel insurance?

    Travel insurance is mandatory and is included in your retreat cost. We require it particularly during this climate. You do not need to purchase a separate travel insurance policy.

     

    But if you have an issue that may prevent you from attending, it is your responsibility to alert us as soon as possible.

  • Meet Your Retreat Hosts

    Jasmine Abrams, PhD

    As an international behavioral research scientist, Dr. Abrams' work is conducted with the goal of utilizing culture as an avenue to better understand and reduce health disparities. Dr. Abrams conducts international research in collaboration with community-based and health service organizations and she is fiercely dedicated to sexual health promotion among women of African ancestry - with a focus on sexual and maternal health. She has secured numerous federal funding awards to support her work, including funding from NIMH, NIMHD, NHLBI, and Fogarty International Center.

     

    Dr. Abrams has also founded 4 companies, including the Thrive Institute for Professional Development. The mission of the Thrive Institute is to offer transformative training and professional development experiences to advance productivity and well-being among researchers at research intensive institutions. In her downtime, Dr. Abrams enjoys yoga, dancing salsa, painting, and playing with her Mini Schnauzer pup, Phoenix.

    Gretchen Fletcher

    Gretchen Fletcher is an experienced Executive Assistant, specializing in coordination and event planning. In her current role as a Senior Executive Assistant, she began to see the need for admin support for professionals in various industries. As such, Gretchen founded Upper Echelon Consulting Group. Their mission is to provide high quality administrative support organizations of all sizes, from small startups to large corporations and individuals. They strive to consistently deliver and maintain detail-oriented support, coupled with familial rapport and top-notch professionalism.

     

    Gretchen is also passionate about health and wellness. She enjoys working out daily and meal prepping to provide balance and nutrition for her face paced lifestyle. In addition, Gretchen has found humbleness and grace within her spirituality. She leads a bible study once a week with like minds and has found great joy in embracing that leadership role.
